A wonderful intergenerational mix of audience members from different cultures gathered to hear Chinese Whispers stories at our workshop reading – on Super Bowl Sunday, no less!
Engaging the audience:
After the workshop reading and artists’ discussion, cultural activist and author Arlene Goldbard led the audience in small group conversations about their own experiences of crossing borders between cultures. Many audience members reported that sharing in these story circles gave them a sense of community with other participants, and a deeper understanding of the Chinese Whispers stories they just heard.
This is very much part of the Chinese Whispers ethos: it’s not just about “them”–it’s about you, about all of us as a community made of differences, coming together to remember, learn, and celebrate.
