Multimedia Storytelling Theater
Bringing to light overlooked stories of the Chinese immigrant communities in the Bay Area
JOIN US for the premiere of Golden Gate, an exciting multimedia theater experience that brings to light little-known stories about the Chinese who settled the Bay Area, from the Gold Rush to today.
More than 250,000 Chinese came to California in the last half of the 19th century, but most of them have been forgotten as individuals. Drawing on stories passed down through generations about these early pioneers, and the personal memories of contemporary immigrants to San Francisco Chinatown, Golden Gate weaves a rich tapestry of voices rarely heard in the recounting of Bay Area history.
Nine intergenerational storytellers bring these tales to life, amidst an evocative, original soundscape and poetic projection imagery. Based on extensive oral history interviews, Golden Gate celebrates the human spirit in the immigrant story.
Join us on a heart-warming journey through time, for an inspiring experience that melds the power of storytelling with the magic of multimedia.
